Numbered heads

'Numbered heads' is a cooperative learning activity consisting of four steps.

1. Students number off (in this case from 1 to 4).
2. The teacher announces the task and time limit.
3. Students put their heads together, do the activity, and ensure the whole group completes the task.
4. The teacher calls a number and that person from each group shares their answer with the class.

This idea works well with students from years 1 to 13.
