Rally drive
Children are in pairs, shoulder to shoulder, with a clipboard between them. The first child writes a fact down and without talking, hands the board to their partner. The partner reads what has been written, then writes their own fact down. This continues for a set time.
If a child does not have something to add, they still read the information and hand back the form. After a set time, the teacher gets each pair of children to team up with another pair to compare and share their ideas. This way, all children are involved in the task and you, as the teacher, gain a good idea of the level of understanding the children have.
