The social sciences best evidence synthesis programme aims to sytematically identify, analyse, synthesis and make accessible relevant evidence that links teaching approaches to enhanced outcomes for diverse learners.

It seeks to understand why, for whom and in what circumstances particular teaching approaches are effective.

Ka Hikitia - Accelerating Success 2013 -2017

Ka Hikitia – Accelerating Success 2013–2017 is our strategy to rapidly change how the education system performs so that all Māori students gain the skills, qualifications and knowledge they need to enjoy and achieve education success as Māori.

Ka Hikitia – Accelerating Success 2013–2017 is an updated strategy, not a brand new one. Its predecessor, Ka Hikitia – Managing for Success 2008–2012, set the direction for improving how the education system performs for Māori students.

Social sciences teachers can make an important contribution to improving Māori student outcomes by increasing their knowledge of what works for and with Māori, based on the evidence.

ICCS is an educational study that aims to investigate the ways in which young people are prepared to undertake their roles as citizens in the 21st century. New Zealand is one of over 30 countries taking part. A major advantage of international studies of student achievement is that results can be compared across all participating countries.
